GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the direct supervision of the Business Manager, the Camp Host independently performs routine and non-recurring duties using knowledge of the YMCA practices, policies and organization as related to all matters of the branch. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in processing matters not requiring the Business Manager's attention.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (SPECIALIZED, TECHNICAL, OR PRACTICAL)
• Requires basic knowledge or ability to learn any program (office, kitchen, challenge course, outdoor education, etc.)
• Must have ability to learn new tasks quickly
• Basic computer skills (i.e. Word and Excel)
• Must be flexible
• Good organizational skills
• Must be a self-starter
• Must pass pre-hire background check
• Good Communications skills

HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers
• Must be able to relate to customers in a confident and professional manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Spanish fluency is a plus

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to fill-in for a variety of departments as needed to ensure effective communication
• Weekend work may be required at times

PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION
• Assist with office, retreats, summer camp, outdoor education, challenge course, kitchen, etc.
• Ensure that essential information is communicated with necessary staff
• Make sure all departments are kept apprised of upcoming group needs

DECISION MAKING AND JUDGMENT
• Make sound decisions without the aid of the Business Manager
• Make decisions that are in line with standards set forth by the YMCA and Texas Department of Health or other regulatory agencies
• Have the ability to recognize a situation that requires assistance from supervisors and ask for that assistance

INITIATIVE AND ADAPTABILITY
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to daily changes due to staffing issues, schedules changes and last minute requests
• Must be able to work without constant instruction and direction
• Must be able to assess your personal work load against that of others and ask to assist others or ask for assistance
• Express creativity that could help drive program improvements and changes

COMMUNICATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY
• Maintain effective and professional communication with camp staff, program participants, parents and volunteers
• Maintain discretion when dealing with confidential data or information

COST CONTROL AND FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT
• Realize your department is one part of the whole and success and failures effect everyone

Responsibilities

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
• Assist with any program area needed (office, retreats, summer camp, outdoor education, challenge course, kitchen, etc.)
• Gain knowledge and be available to answer phone calls regarding all camp programs
• Greet and provide a high level of customer service to all customers
• Give tours when needed
• Be familiar with website and help customers/parents navigate website and online registration
• Maintain an organized area with information about programs for guest
• All other duties as assigned
