Personal Training at the YMCA
Personal training is an individualized one-on-one program with a certified personal trainer that is directed to assist you in achieving and maintaining a desired fitness level through strength training, cardiovascular conditioning and weight management.

We also offer a great Personal Training Special to any member who is new to Personal Training! Our New Member package includes 3 hours for $99! You may use these 3 hours however you’d like. You can use them as whole hours, or even split them up into six 30 minute sessions.

Our Registered Dietitian is here to help you navigate your food intake to achieve your goals. Whether you’re seeking weight loss, improved sports performance, or healthier everyday eating habits, an accredited and experienced nutrition professional can help you get there!
Ruth received her undergraduate degree in Dietetics at Missouri State University in Springfield Missouri. She then finished a dietetic internship through The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. To become a registered dietitian she took and passed a national board certification dietitian exam. Ruth worked as a clinical dietitian in a hospital in Joplin Missouri for 4 years before moving to her current position with the YMCA in Fort Worth, Texas. As a Licensed and Registered Dietitian in the state of Texas she is an expert in nutrition. She enjoys cooking and eating healthy nutritious food as well as helping people live and eat healthier through proper balanced nutrition.

Y Weight Loss Program
The Hood County YMCA will begin offering a Y Weight Loss Program for those who are interested in jump starting a life change! To participate in the program you must be 18 years or older. The program is 12 weeks long and meets once per week. Participants will gain tools and knowledge as well as have group support to help develop a nutrition and exercise plan that works for each individual!
When: Beginning January 29th & 31st, Mondays at 11:00 am or Wednesdays at 6:00 pm
Where: Hood County YMCA, Multi-Purpose Room
Cost: $50 for members, $100 for non-members, financial assistance available

Y Warrior is a strength and cardio group fitness class taught by our Nationally Certified Personal Trainers. Y Warrior is for all fitness levels and anyone looking for a challenge! Open to ages 8+, all children under age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
Cost: Unlimited Access – $30 Month or Yearly Pass – $275 available until Feb. 28th

Group Exercise Classes
The YMCA offers a wide variety of classes to engage those who want to get their work out in a social, group format. All classes listed are included in YMCA membership and are ongoing, so join at any time. Classes may be canceled or times may change due to low attendance. Please refer to schedules regularly. All classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels as well as appropriate for ages 8 and up (BODY PUMP & CXWORX is ages 13 and up). Classes are listed below.
Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP™ gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 540 calories*. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement to the beat of music– helping you achieve much more than on your own! Space does fill up fast so please arrive early to secure your spot! Ages 13 and up.
Step into a BODYCOMBAT workout and you will punch and kick your way to fitness, burning up to 740 calories* along the way. Get ready to be challenged by a Les Mills™ instructor that will motivate you to get the best results! You’ll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ!
Let’s Boogie! Come and have a kickn’ time with some basic but pure fun line dancing, salsa and other groovin’ moves. A great workout for any age, especially our Active Older Adults and those new or returning to exercise. No experience necessary.
During the 30 minute workout trained instructors guide you through correct technique as you work with resistance tubes and weight plates, as well as body weight exercises like crunches and hovers. Also, get into hip, glute and lower back exercises.
A physical class that incorporates body weight training, core exercises, deep stretching, balance work and more. All fitness levels encouraged. Modifications available if needed.

This class is all about firming the rear, strengthening the abdominal muscles, and tightening and toning everything in between.

Perfect Balance Y-Pilates
A class that addresses body, mind & spirit. You can gain body strength & agility in various challenging postures. You’re offered mind challenges with balance poses & uses hand weights, straps, & balls.
This is a high energy total body interval style class with moves designed to help you make the most of your morning workout! All fitness levels welcome!
An indoor cycling workout that delivers maximum results with minimum impact on your joints. With pumped music, get your pedals spinning! Burn nearly 500 calories* and get ready to sweat!
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
Move your whole body through a completed series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity
A safe and heart-healthy aerobics class to energize your active lifestyle using low-impact movements that focus specifically on building upper-body and core strength plus cardio endurance. This is a higher intensity class than Classic and Circuit.
Spiritual Y-Gentle Yoga
Slow paced Hatha Style yoga that prepares & conditions your mind, body & spirit. A combination of floor & standing poses that improve strength, flexibility, strength, and balance with a focus on proper pose alignment, listenging to your body, and connecting with your spirit. Ends with prayer requests & bible reading/devotional time
Touted as “the world’s greatest fat burning workout”. Tabata is a simple, yet effective interval training technique designed to boost the body’s calorie burning mechanisms. All you need is 30 minutes! Warm up and cool down included. Tabata Xtreme is designed to push all fitness levels to their limits.
Y-ABs Express/ABs Plus
Join us for an ab burnin’ good time in our express Abs class. The focus of this class will be to strengthen your abdominals through exercise and balance work in a relaxing atmosphere. All Fitness levels welcome! Our plus class will focus on core and provide additional training that rotates through arms, legs, and glute training.
Y-H.I.I.T and Y-Beginner H.I.I.T.
High Intensity Interval Training: A high-energy, heart pumping, feet moving routine! With the combination of high, moderate and low impact intervals designed to burn calories and muscular conditioning segment to tone muscles, your entire body will be conditioned and strengthened. Beginner class geared for lower intensity.

A physical class dedicated to improving strength, balance, flexibility, and breathing, while reducing muscle tension and stress. All fitness levels welcome. Y-Power Yoga: add more challenge to this workout and create your highest level of energy and vitality by building strength.
Ditch the workout, join the party! Zumba is a combination of Latin and International dances such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Mambo and Samba among others that are not only FUN but exhilarating and allow you to dance yourself healthy! The routines are easy to follow & presented in aerobics/interval training format with fast and slow moves that get the heart pumping, tone your body and burn a ton of calories!!!
This specialty class is designed for the Active Older Adult or those who want to join the fitness-party for the first time. Zumba at a slower pace but with ALL the fun!
*Early Bird Walkers – dress to be outside, unless inclement weather.
Combines strength and resistance training with innovative dance moves using a chair as your dance partner and not a single weight lifted. High intensity workout focusing on core, defining your muscles, and improving cardiovascular endurance
Here at the YMCA we want to provide all staff, members, and the community the opportunity to learn necessary skills in helping to save someone’s life. We look to host a CPR and AED training once a month. CPR and First Aid Trainings
Class Dates and Times – CPR & First Aid is held from 8 am -3 pm with a lunch break included. Price is the same for taking only CPR or only First Aid.
