The Ryan Family YMCA Afterschool and Afterschool Leadership programs are value-driven programs that put a strong emphasis on YMCA core values:  Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. We strive to provide every child with activities that encourage a healthy spirit, mind and body.

To enroll your child in Afterschool care or Afterschool Leadership programs, please read the parent handbook and complete the registration packet for the corresponding program.

Elementary Schools

The Afterschool care program provides a safe, structured and fun environment for children, on site at your child’s school.

Program Hours
Care is provided on site at your child’s school from the release of school until 6:30pm. No transportation required.

All YMCA afterschool programs are licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Get to know our great staff
Let our counselors create a great afterschool experience for your child. All staff are at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma. Background checks including FBI fingerprinting are done along with personal and professional references. A certified teacher from your school will also be on staff to provide homework help and enrichment tutoring. All staff receive many hours of training and are all CPR and first aid certified.

The Ryan Family YMCA offers childcare to fit any family’s need, from care on a week-to-week basis to year-round care that includes our summer day camp program. Call the Ryan Family YMCA for more details at 817-346-8855.

Y Fit

The Y is one of the nation’s largest childcare providers, with over 10,000 earlychildhood and afterschool sites across the USA. The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth provides afterschool programming in 45 sites across Tarrant County, serving nearly 2,000 children each day. Our program includes opportunities for social skills development through group games and activities, homework help and arts and crafts. Now, through the Carol M. White PEP Grant, we have added a new component, Y-Fit.Y-Fit brings our organization’s impact areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility to life in our afterschool programs as we incorporate structured physical activity and nutrition education into our daily programming.


Y-Fit is a fun and engaging physical activity and nutrition initiative that will complement our afterschool programs.  Y-Fit is the perfect addition to our existing programs that feature character development, arts and crafts, group games and homework time, adding a unique element to afterschool are that reinforces the Y’s commitment to healthy spirit, mind and body for all.


Y-Afterschool serves nearly 1,500 elementary and middle-school aged students participating in the Y’s afterschool program in 45 campuses across Tarrant County.


During daily afterschool programming hours, typically between 2:30 pm and6:00 pm, from Septemberthrough May.


Goals of the Y-Fit Afterschool Program are:
• To help students meet state PE standards
• To focus on benefits of regular activity,
proper nutrition and long-term benefits of both
• To provide youth and families with the tools needed
to fight youth obesity and the effects of unhealthy choices


Y-Fit utilizes the SPARK curriculum, a research-based physical education curriculum aimed at increasing physical activity and promoting physical activity beyond classes.  SPARK leads children toward an active lifestyle through age-appropriate games, relays and high-impact activities that are engaging and,but most of all FUN!
