Active older adults can gain strength and energy while enjoying a variety of social events at the YMCA. Activities range from group exercise classes designed especially for seniors to pot-luck lunches or special trips. Becoming an active older adult at the YMCA means staying connected to your community and offers the opportunity to volunteer through YMCA programs or in committee positions. This is a unique physical activity, lifestyle and social-oriented program designed to encourage members to increase their levels of physical activity and motivate them to continue to be active. The program reflects senior sensitivity, promotes social interaction and encourages participation in healthy lifestyle activities.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
Get up and go with an aerobics class for you — safe, heart healthy and gentle on the joints. The workout includes easy-to-follow low-impact movement, and upper-body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle.
YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises ad a final relaxation sequence will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
Active Older Adult (AOA) Fitness
This class utilizes a variety of materials to increase muscular strength, endurance and overall coordination and balance. The format is very similar to SilverSneakers I except no music is used.

Low to Go
A class for all fitness levels that concentrates on fundamentals of step, low-impact aerobics and muscle conditioning. This is a great class for beginners.
The original barbell class designed to tone and strengthen the entire body! It uses great music to challenge all the major muscle groups with the best weight room inspired exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.
Learn various posture breathing exercises and relaxation techniques while increasing flexibility and muscle tone.
Come join us for the ride of your life! These 60-minute indoor cycling classes will increase your cardiovascular fitness level, increase your strength, and shape you up as you enjoy the ride!
A challenging water workout that engages your entire body with minimal impact on your joints. We’ll utilize water resistance and other tools to lift the heartrate and burn calories.
A combination of Latin dance and other international dances such as Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Mambo and Samba. It is a dynamic, exciting, energetic aerobic workout, and it’s easy to follow! Come join the Zumba fun! (Youth and families are welcome to attend.)
