Health & Wellness

E.R. Van Zandt Southwest YMCA

The YMCA encourages the development of total health and wellness, making individuals strong in spirit, mind and body. Our Wellness Center is equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbant bikes, free weights and selectorized strength equipment for our members.

Y Weight Loss Program

The Weight Loss Program is designed to help people seeking a healthier weight achieve their goals by making small, modest changes to their daily behaviors, and forming sustainable healthy habits.

This 12-week program is designed for adults 18 years and older who desire a healthier weight. This program is not intended for individuals with specialized needs due to chronic disease or the onset of chronic disease.

Each week participants will weigh in, be introduced to a new topic relevant to weight loss, discuss as a group successes/challenges/suggestions around the weekly topic, and develop goals for the upcoming week. Topics covered during the program include: nutrition, physical activity, stress and sleep, positive psychology, goal setting and sustainability.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a research based physical activity program for cancer survivors, including those currently undergoing treatment, that focuses on you- the whole person- not the disease. This free 12-week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease you back into fitness and help you maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit. You’ll also learn about wellness, stress reduction and how to continue healthy habits after the program has ended. We strive to help in building a support system by providing a place for you to build friendships and a community with others affected by cancer.
