Despite being born with spina bifida, Marcus is thriving on the soccer field. “Because of his physical disabilities we didn’t think he’d be able to participate in any kind of program like that, but he really wanted to do something with his cousin,” Marcus’s mom explained.
Youth sports teach essential teamwork and good sportsmanship skills, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle.
“The team-building gives such value. I’ve seen him change so much in his value of himself to be able to participate in these kind of things,” his mom said. “I really feel like this program has helped him to not have limitations. With organizations like the Y, we can help him to succeed and try new things.”
