Summer Fun Camp
Classic summer fun! Campers explore new ways to have fun with indoor or outdoor activities and also have weekly opportunities for swimming and exciting field trips! Our entertaining theme-based activities are age appropriate and our camps operate at YMCA branches, neighborhood elementary schools and community churches. Our Summer Fun Camps are licensed by the state of Texas as “youth camps.”
YMCA Sports camps are designed to be recreational. Campers will be introduced to sports skills and activities and will improve their skills in team play. Our YMCA Sports Camps operate up to 5 days a week and focus on one specialized sport in a group setting.
Our YMCA Specialty Camps operate up to 5 days a week focusing on one specialized activity in a group setting. Campers participating in a specialty camp get time to explore a specific interest and focus on a favorite activity. Camp Can-Do will be offered at Camp Carter YMCA for visually impaired kids, and a music video camp will be offered at the Downtown YMCA.
The CIT Program develops leadership and character skills for youth entering the 6th grade and helps young people learn how to effectively lead children. The CITs will assist in day camp programs and field trips. Moreover, they will have special activities/field trips throughout the summer.
This two year program is for teenagers who are interested in developing leadership and camp counseling skills. LITs spend three weeks at Camp Carter each summer, and at the end of the second years are given the opportunity to volunteer at camp. Young men and women who reach age 15 by June 1st are eligible to apply for the LIT program.
Teen camps are designed for youth entering the 6th grade in the fall, and have certain activities and curriculum adapted especially for teens.
