Caleb’s Story

September 2, 20260 min

Why Your Support Matters All Year Long

After a traumatic brain injury changed Caleb’s life, the YMCA became part of his rehabilitation.

But over time, the Y became much more than a place to work on rebuilding his physical strength.

It became a second home.

At the YMCA, Caleb continues working toward greater strength, confidence and independence. He’s surrounded by people who encourage him, motivate him and know him by name.

For Caleb, having a place where he feels supported and connected has become an important part of his journey.

Then his family faced another major change.

When Caleb’s mom became his full-time caregiver, financial assistance helped ensure the YMCA could remain part of their lives.

Recovery takes time.

Caleb’s story is a powerful reminder that meaningful change doesn’t happen in a single day.

  • Recovery doesn’t happen in one day.
  • Growth doesn’t happen in one day.
  • Belonging doesn’t happen in one day.

And neither does the work of the YMCA.

Every day, the Y provides opportunities for children to learn and grow, families to connect, people to pursue healthier lives and neighbors to find a place where they belong.

That’s why support for the YMCA matters throughout the year—not just on one special day.

One Day of Giving. A Year of Impact.

On September 17, North Texas Giving Day gives our community an opportunity to come together and make an immediate difference.

Your gift can help ensure that the YMCA continues to be a place where people like Caleb can find support, encouragement and opportunity when they need it most.

But what if you want your impact to continue beyond September 17?

That’s where Monthly Mission Champions come in.

We’re building a community of 100 monthly donors who are committed to creating lasting impact at the YMCA. Through a recurring gift, Monthly Mission Champions help provide consistent support for the YMCA’s mission throughout the year.

Because the needs in our community don’t happen just once a year.

And the YMCA doesn’t show up just once a year.

One-time giving can make an impact today. Monthly giving helps keep that impact going all year long.

Whether you give on North Texas Giving Day or become a Monthly Mission Champion, you’re helping make sure people and families in our community have a place to belong, grow and thrive.

Caleb’s journey is still unfolding. And so is the work of the YMCA.

Thank you for helping us be there for what comes next.
