Become a Mentor
You Can Make an Impact
Reach & Rise® is an evidence-based mentoring program where mentors help youth envision and work toward individualized goals. Mentors can be anyone 21 years or older with clean background checks and a desire to support youth through change and challenges.

Group Mentoring
In our Group program, two mentors work together to deliver an evidence-based curriculum to a small group of youth of similar ages. Group meetings are two hours weekly over the course of an 8- or 16-week session. The curriculum covers topics like self-esteem, communication, and coping skills; the choice of topics emerges from group dynamics.
Benefits of being a mentor:
Build positive relationships
Increase in self-esteem
Better supervisory skills
Increase opportunities for growth

Be the Mentor They Need
Every young person deserves a caring adult in their corner. As a Reach & Rise® mentor, you can help youth build confidence, develop important life skills and navigate challenges in a safe, supportive environment.
You don’t need to have all the answers — just a willingness to listen, encourage and show up. With training and ongoing support from the YMCA, you’ll have the tools to make a meaningful difference in a young person’s life.

Build a Better Future
Through meaningful relationships with caring adults, youth have a safe space to share their experiences, work through challenges and set goals for their future.
Mentoring gives young people the opportunity to connect with supportive mentors and peers while learning skills that can help them at school, at home and in their communities.
Together, we can help young people recognize their potential and build a stronger future.
