Give the Gift of Play

Supporting the Ella McFadden Early Child Development Center

The Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown YMCA and Fort Worth Downtown Neighborhood Alliance have teamed up to raise funds to support playground improvements at the Ella McFadden Early Child Development Center. The Downtown YMCA serves over 300 children ages six weeks to five years each year between our two preschools and summer day camp programs. Each year the YMCA provides over $600,000 in financial support to families to ensure that we never have to turn anybody away for the inability to afford high-quality care for their children. At the Y, we know that a key component of child development occurs through play, interacting with others and experiencing nature. That is why we have partnered with the Fort Worth Downtown Neighborhood Alliance to raise funds to provide a high-quality play experience for our downtown community.

$40,000 Fundraising Goal provides:

  • Replacing wood chips with a softer, rubberized flooring, creating a safer, softer, and cleaner experience for the children.
  • Replacing current shade structure with a new structure to increase protection from the sun and rain.

$60,000 Stretch Goal provides:

  • New outdoor toys such as tricycles, balls and small structures that support development of gross motor skills.
