Frequently Asked Questions

With Nationwide Membership, you now have the added value of visiting Ys across the United States and Canada. On average, at least 50% of your visits must be to your home YMCA (the local association that enrolled you and collects your membership dues). Most YMCAs require a photo ID for all visitors. Please bring a photo ID with you for a seamless customer experience. You will also be asked to sign a waiver when visiting other locations. Visit ymca.org before you travel to make sure the Y you intend to visit participates.

  • Monthly membership fees may be put on hold for medical, travel or personal emergency reasons for 1-3 months each calendar year. Hold requests must be made 14 days in advance at any YMCA location or online at the link below. Request a Hold
  • Membership cancellation requests can be done online through your YMCA account or at your local branch. Once you’ve logged into your account, click “Request to Cancel” to submit your request. Please note, the YMCA requires a 30-day notice for all membership cancellations. Cancel Membership

    Note: If you are currently paying for your membership through payroll deduction, please contact your local branch to cancel.

The YMCA utilizes an automated service to help manage payment returns. With this service, members may receive messages to update account information on the YMCA’s behalf. A $30 return fee will be added for membership payments that decline/return for insufficient funds. Because of this, please be mindful of your draft date to prevent any unwanted overdraft fees.

Should you decide to cancel your membership with the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth, we will happily refund the unused portion of any membership dues paid by annual invoice or stop the automatic withdrawal from your bank account upon request.

Joining fees are non-refundable. We are unable to refund membership fees due to lack of use or non-attendance. Please monitor your monthly bank statement for discrepancies. Should you discover an error on our part and report it within 60 days, we will correct our error and refund the appropriate amount. There will be no refund of erroneous payments after 60 days.
