Financial Assistance & Military Camperships

The Y is here for ALL. Financial assistance and income-based scholarships are available to help make camp programs possible for every family. We encourage families to apply early, as assistance is limited.

YMCA Camp Carter proudly offers Military Camperships to families currently serving as active duty, deployed, reserve, and veteran service members. Camperships are available for both Day Camp and Overnight Camp and are awarded using a tiered system based on rank and status. We are honored to serve military families and help ensure camp is accessible to those who serve our country.

Join us for Summer Camp

Summer overnight camp is a time for youth to grow their independence, explore, discover and create in a place that encourages confidence and community. An overnight experience provides opportunities for kids to experience new interests and take appropriate risks while learning what it means to be a good friend and leader.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each family rents a cabin. You can choose who is in your cabin based on how you define your family.

If you lose something, our lost and found is accessible to check during meal times. We encourage labeling your belongings to help us return items promptly.

Please pack bedding for a twin mattress for each member of your family. You may prefer to only bring a bottom sheet, pillow and sleeping bag. You will also need to remember toiletries and towels/washcloths. Please pack for the weather and keep in mind many activities are outdoors. Loose, comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty is recommended.

Photo release forms are built into every registration form. We use photos on our social channels and in marketing and promotion of the program. Photos will only appear on approved channels owned/operated by the organization.

During the majority of family camping weekends, the pool is closed. However, we do provide ample opportunities for waterfront activities like canoeing and kayaking.
